Nearly 200,000 people protested in Los Angeles over House Democratic leaders’ decision to allow restrictions on child labor for senior executives at the Walt Disney Co. The protests were the largest in the city’s history.
Five years ago: Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) promised to veto any legislation he believes could be blocked in the Senate by Vice President Mike Pence. Four judges blocked Kansan activist Kristin Ryan from the U.S. Supreme Court after she gave birth to a child in jail during the flight to the United States that she had documented in her online blog.One year ago: The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against 100 exonerated murderers who appealed their wrongful convictions. In Puerto Rico, legislation was unveiled that sought to bring back “provisional passports” to those who travel beyond the island’s four regions.
