A father was shot in the back as he tried to shield his three children — a toddler, 4, and a 1-year-old girl — from a gunman at a Bronx dealership Saturday morning, police said.

Sabathio Magro, 36, was shot about 7:50 a.m. at the Capital Automotive Group store on Bronxdale Avenue near Dolton Street.

Shots were fired through the front window and Magro was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital. He was listed in critical condition.

He was wearing a red hat and blue t-shirt, police said.

The office manager of the dealership also was shot in the head. He was listed in stable condition.

The unidentified attacker, who fled in a dark Mercedes, may have worn a gas mask, police said.

Business has been good at the dealership, manager Mynette DeCarvo said. She added that the gunman shot a customer there before escaping.

The shooting came more than five years after a customer was shot by a gunman who also stole a customer’s car and fled, police said.
