Despite President Donald Trump’s best efforts to fire back, it appears that some of the president’s most ardent supporters can’t stop flinging negative smears at American troops. One of those men, Cindy McCain, has endorsed Vice President Joe Biden over Republican Sen. Bob Corker.

McCain, the wife of the senator who is not quite fully recovered from a stroke she suffered in July, accompanied her husband to East Hampton earlier this week, calling up both of the Senate’s most hawkish members, Corker and Mike Rounds, to discuss the situation. Senator Rounds, a South Dakota Republican, first responded to Pence’s call by retweeting Trump’s criticism of Corker’s foreign policy advice.

Perhaps attempting to distance herself from Trump—who has railed against the senator, who called him “clownish” and “nasty”—McCain added her own harsh words.

“Monsieur Rollefoelt son Haier,” she tweeted, along with a photo of Biden and her husband, Richard.

Monsieur Rollefoelt son Haier, “@JoeBiden is a great friend of our nation, and because of that we have a strong tradition of military cooperation. @SenBobCorker joins me on @JoeBiden‘s rally. Been faithfully serving you since Day 1.” 💋https://t.co/nWqYaNK741 pic.twitter.com/jvQde6w6eQ — Cindy McCain (@cindymccain) September 20, 2018

McCain went on to say that she and her husband will make their endorsement public on Friday in support of her former Navy buddy.

“The U.S. military is generous, dependable and brave,” she wrote, later adding a photo of Biden with his family with the caption, “Monsieur Rollefoelt son Haier.”

McCain also tweeted about the first lady Tuesday afternoon.
