MATT Dawson had four children and was the heart of his family but it seems Carolin Hauskeller feels no affinity with the new step-parent.

The two are said to have fallen out following the divorce of Matt Dawson, who is a former novelist who penned The Dealmaker and won an OBE in 2003.

It’s understood she stormed out of his home in Cardiff on the night of the Sun’s Independence Rally while he was in Yorkshire last week.

Last night Carolin, who was previously married to Mike, had a tearful TV interview about her shock separation and saying “he was my knight in shining armour”.

She did not admit to any infidelity but said her husband had not seemed to care for their daughter’s younger brother whom he is currently caring for.

A source told the South Wales Echo: “Carolin was the guardian of the home but had a difficult relationship with Matt on and off. She has left him and he has called off the wedding.

“The reason the separation happened was apparently because Carolin did not feel that Matt cared for the family of his youngest daughter. Carolin did not have a relationship with her older children.”

They added: “Matt, of course, wishes Carolan well and he has asked her to keep quiet about the problems in their relationship. They will sort it out.”

The duo are currently at a cottage in Cornwall in a build-up to their intended wedding next year.

The Sun’s Independence Rally will take place on a tiny island off St Austell on Friday October 5.

Families from more than 70 countries will take part in the rally which will be headlined by 400 MPs attending in Cardiff.

It is due to start at 9am at the cottages which contain a room for everyone – including 70 doctors – to study the rally’s announcement that 1,100 Lib Dem votes have been stolen and set free.
